NEX301 ( 48x48 ) PID Temperature Controller from RADIX  is a cost effective & economical model with easy-to-read large customized display and compact size. This PID temperature controller is used in applications such as food processing machines, plastic extruders and moulding machines, packaging machines, ovens, small furnaces,autoclaves for sterilization etc. Its precise temperature control provides a reliable solution at an affordable price.

NEX301 accepts five types of thermocouples -  J, K, R, S, T - and Pt100 RTD inputs. All these inputs are user settable through keys (not factory selected). No DIP switch is used. Thus, if a user needs to change the input type from thermocouple J to Pt100 RTD, he can easily do so through the keys. This feature allows dealers as well as end-users to use one product instead of multiple instruments for different inputs. NEX301 has a high input accuracy  - Thermocouple : ± 0.25% of span ±1 °C, RTD Pt100 : ± 0.05% of span ±1 °C and maintains high accuracy throughout the operating temperature of -10 to 50 °C. Sampling time is 200ms . The ‘Digital Filter’ parameter removes the fluctuation when the inputs have electrical noise. Many parameters such as Input Bias and Input Limits allow the instrument to adapt to any application. Sensor break detection is automatic and the relay can be selected to be on or off during sensor break.

NEX301 has a dual-row, four-digit customized display. The upper row is a large,16.3mm height bright red display, and lower row is 9mm  bright green LED display. This makes it easily viewable from far.The dual display shows both the process value and control setpoint value in run mode .The dual display also makes it easier to configure parameters. 

NEX301 is an easy to use product with four user friendly keys. The programming and setting of parameters can be easily done by any layman or technician. The programming levels and parameters are designed such that any parameter can be found easily. The setpoints can be quickly and easily set without going into program mode.

NEX301 is a PID temperature controller with an advanced PID and fuzzy logic algorithm. It has got two setpoints , one for PID/On-Off Control and another for On-Off control/Alarm . All the PID parameters can be set by the user or can be autotuned Autotuning is preferred for precise control. The procedure for autotuning is simple, fast and gives good accuracy. The controller can be easily converted from PID action to On-Off action by setting a single parameter. When On-Off action is selected, all parameters related to PID action such as band, integral time, etc. are hidden to make it easy for the user . Similarly, NEX301 can be easily set for only time proportional mode

Thus NEX301 can be used as a PID controller with one relay for control and another for On-Off or as an ON-OFF controller with two relay output or PID controller with alarm or On-off controller with alarm . All these configurations can be easily set by user. Alarm modes include high,low,deviation and band alarms. Latch mode for alarm is provided and one can reset the alarm through acknowledge key.

 

NEX301 temperature PID Controller has an add-on unique feature of soak timer. This feature is specifically used in Autoclaves for sterilization . Autoclaves are used in medical applications to perform sterilization and in the chemical industry to cure coatings and vulcanize rubber and for hydrothermal synthesis. Industrial autoclaves are used in industrial applications, especially in the manufacturing of composites. The function of a soak timer PID Controller  is to control the temperature at the specified setpoint for the period of soak time set by user. After the soak time is over the control output will be disabled. The second relay can be configured as an annunciator to  indicate that soak is finished. Soak time is in minutes . Autoclave sterilizers setpoints are generally set at 121 degree for 15 minutes. 

NEX301 temperature PID Controller comes with heat + Cool Mode. For some processes it is difficult to control the temperature by heating alone.For such system , heat+cool control method is recommended.Here , the controller generates two outputs(heat and cool) for the same process and for the same setpoint. The heating side control is PID control while cooling is ON-Off control . Dead band parameter is provided.  . The deadband represents band around the set point in which both heat and cool output will be disabled. For example, with a 4° wide deadband and a setpoint of 70°, the deadband will be 68° - 72°. This keeps the system from bouncing  between heating and cooling.  

NEX301 has relay and SSR outputs available for first relay. This minimises the varieties of order codes for dealers as well as end-users. The end-user can select either output by just setting a parameter and wiring at the proper terminals. Second relay option is also available , thus providing maximum 2 Relay + 1 SSR output in such a compact  size

NEX301 is compact with a depth of only 60mm behind panel. This makes it useful in tight spaces with limited depth.

 

Also available in the Value Range series of PID Temperature Controllers is  NEX305     (similar to NEX301, but of size 96Wx96Hx35D mm).
