RCT701 Multifunction Digital Timer

The Radix RCT701 is a compact, panel-mount industrial multifunction timer designed for precision automation applications. It operates as a memory-less digital timer with a clear 4-digit red LED display for convenient time indication.

The RCT701 features an industry-standard 48 × 48 mm plug-in enclosure, allowing rapid installation without disrupting rear wiring. The programmable timer accepts universal power input from 85-265 VAC/DC at 50/60 Hz, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial automation panels.

The RCT701 provides nine user-selectable timing ranges from 10 milliseconds to 9999 hours. It can count elapsed time in either incrementing (up) or decrementing (down) directions according to the user programming. When the count reaches the setpoint, the timer energises an internal electromechanical relay rated at 5 A/230 VAC resistive.

Working Principle of the Radix RCT701 Digital Timer

The RCT701 operates using an internal time-base oscillator that provides quartz crystal accuracy of 0.01% of reading. The timer measures elapsed time according to the selected timing range and programmed counting direction.

The RCT701 provides nine selectable timing ranges covering durations from 10 milliseconds to 9999 hours. Users can configure the timer to count either upwards or downwards depending on the required automation sequence.

When the measured count matches the programmed setpoint, the RCT701 energises its internal electromechanical relay. The relay is rated at 5 A/230 VAC resistive and can be used for the configured timing operation.

The RCT701 provides four timing modes:

ON Delay
OFF Delay
Cyclic C1
Cyclic C2

RCT701 Input Configurations

The RCT701 is available in two input configurations to support different control requirements.

RCT701 Fixed Input Series - Order Code: 2288-01

The Fixed Input Series features dedicated, factory-assigned start and stop terminal inputs. This configuration provides a straightforward solution for standard start/stop machine cycles.

RCT701 Configurable Input Series - Order Code: 2288-02

The Configurable Input Series provides flexible control terminals that can be assigned to individual input functions. These functions include Start, multiple Reset options (level reset, pulse reset), Stop and Gate freeze logic.

This configuration is suitable for automation panels requiring sophisticated interlocking and multi-signal control.

Why Choose the Radix RCT701 Multifunction Timer?

The RCT701 combines multifunction timing, flexible timing ranges and programmable control functions in a compact industrial timer.

Its nine selectable timing ranges allow timing operations from 10 milliseconds to 9999 hours, while the up/down counting function provides flexibility for different automation sequences.

The RCT701 also provides four timing modes - ON Delay, OFF Delay, Cyclic C1 and Cyclic C2, allowing the timer to support different machine and process timing requirements.

The plug-in 48 × 48 mm enclosure enables rapid installation without disrupting rear wiring, while the universal 85-265 VAC/DC power acceptance supports installation across a wide range of industrial automation panels.

Flexible Timing Modes

The RCT701 provides four programmable timing modes for different automation sequences.

• ON Delay

The ON Delay mode provides a programmed time delay before the relay operation.

• OFF Delay

The OFF Delay mode provides a programmed time delay for relay operation after the relevant timing condition.

• Cyclic C1

Cyclic C1 provides repetitive timing operation with the relay switching ON first.

• Cyclic C2

Cyclic C2 provides repetitive timing operation with the relay switching OFF first.

Flexible Input Configurations

The RCT701 is available with fixed and configurable input options.

The Fixed Input Series uses dedicated, factory-assigned Start and Stop terminal inputs. This configuration is suitable for straightforward start/stop machine cycles.

The Configurable Input Series allows engineers to assign individual functions to the available control terminals. These functions include:

Start
Level Reset
Pulse Reset
Stop
Gate freeze logic

The configurable version can therefore be used where automation panels require flexible interlocking and multi-signal control.

How to Choose the Right RCT701 Version

Select RCT701 Fixed Input Series when you need an economical, ready-to-wire timer for standard two-wire start/stop control.
Select RCT701 Configurable Input Series when the control circuit requires a pause or freeze function through external Gate signals.
Choose RCT701 when the automation panel requires instantaneous pulse resets or delayed cycle restarts.
Choose RCT701 when timing cycles need to restart fresh upon mains restoration rather than retain partial elapsed times.
